Steam & Boiler Service

Steam and Boiler Metal Hose Assemblies

Steam and boiler service requires application review because the complete assembly is governed by hose construction, braid count, end fittings, welds, operating pressure, operating temperature, movement, cycle conditions, and installation geometry.

Engineering Review Required

Threaded steam configurations are not approved for self-service selection from the current catalog. Submit the complete operating conditions and connection requirements.

Validate the Complete Assembly

Flange class and braid count do not determine the completed metal-hose assembly rating. Use validated pressure-temperature data and application review.

Construction Depends on the Actual Service Conditions

Threaded Steam AssembliesSubmit operating pressure, temperature, pipe size, required OAL, end connections, movement, and project requirements so the exact hose series, braid construction, fitting schedule, and pressure-temperature basis can be validated.RFQ review path
Flanged Steam AssembliesDouble-braid Class 300 or Class 600 flanged configurations may be considered only after the exact hose series, working-pressure basis, temperature derating, fittings, welds, movement, and installation conditions are validated.Application review required
Class 150 / Single BraidThese are not presented as the default steam-service path. If a project specification calls for another construction, submit the complete service conditions before ordering.Do not assume suitability
Flange Class ≠ Assembly PSIClass 300 and Class 600 identify the flange pressure class; they are not direct PSI ratings for the completed metal-hose assembly.Use validated assembly data

Common Applications

Typical Steam & Boiler Connection Requirements

Boiler & Steam EquipmentFlexible connections at boiler and steam equipment interfaces.Review pressure, temperature and geometry
Steam & CondensateSteam distribution and condensate-return connection requirements.Review media and operating conditions
Heat Exchangers & Central PlantEquipment connections where vibration isolation or controlled flexibility may be required.Review piping restraints
Retrofit AssembliesReplacement assemblies where pressure, temperature, movement, and end connections must be reviewed together.Submit field dimensions

Required Design Information

Submit the Inputs Needed to Evaluate Steam Service

Pressure & TemperatureSteam or process-fluid operating/design pressure plus operating, startup, and upset temperature.Define operating envelope
Size, Schedule & OALNominal pipe size, schedule, required overall length, and installation geometry.Define physical configuration
Connections & MovementEnd-connection type, pressure class, material, and expected axial, lateral, angular, or vibration movement.Define assembly interfaces
Supports & Project RequirementsAnchor, guide, and support arrangement plus applicable piping code, testing, documentation, and project-specification requirements.Define system constraints

Steam-service suitability cannot be determined from flange class or braid count alone.

Working pressure must be evaluated for the complete assembly, and elevated temperature can reduce allowable working pressure. Corrugated metal hose must not be installed in torsion or treated as an unsupported expansion loop. Applications involving cyclic thermal movement, pressure thrust, water hammer, severe vibration, or uncertain support geometry require application review.
