Metal Hose Engineering
Metal Hose Working Pressure & Temperature Selection
Working pressure must be evaluated for the complete hose assembly. Hose series, nominal size, braid count, end fittings, welds, operating temperature, media, movement, bend radius, cycle conditions, and installation geometry can all limit the final assembly rating.
Use Only Controlled Product-Specific Data
Flex Pipe USA does not use a generic hose pressure chart as a substitute for a controlled manufacturer or supplier source tied to the exact hose series and selected configuration. A working-pressure table, temperature-derating table, bend-radius data, and fitting limits must be validated for the applicable product before they are used for design or release.
If controlled pressure or temperature data is not available for the selected configuration, the engineering status remains unverified and the application requires review before fabrication.
Required Selection Inputs
- Manufacturer and hose series when applicable
- Nominal hose ID and corrugation construction
- Single braid, double braid, or unbraided construction
- Hose and braid metallurgy
- End connection type and fitting material
- Operating pressure and operating temperature
- Media / service
- Movement, minimum bend radius, and installation geometry
- Cycle requirements and applicable piping code
Pressure Derating Calculator
The pressure derating calculator may be used only after a validated base working pressure and an approved temperature reduction factor have been established for the applicable hose construction. Do not substitute flange class, fitting class, a similar hose family, or an uncontrolled chart for the required product-specific data.
Need a Verified Rating?
Submit the operating conditions and requested configuration for engineering review. Required source documentation can then be matched to the exact hose, braid, fittings, temperature, movement, and service conditions before release.
