Metal Hose Pressure Derating Calculator

Calculate a preliminary temperature-adjusted MAWP from a validated base pressure rating and an approved temperature reduction factor.

Important: The reduction factor must come from the approved hose/manufacturer rating basis for the exact hose alloy, braid construction, fitting materials, and operating temperature. This calculator does not invent 304, 316, or 321 stainless factors.

Formula: Derated MAWP = Base MAWP × Temperature Factor. Final assembly MAWP is limited by the lowest-rated component, including hose, braid, fittings, welds, gaskets, and applicable pressure class.

How to Use the Metal Hose Pressure Derating Calculator

Start with the validated base MAWP for the exact hose series, hose ID, braid construction, and end-connection configuration. Then enter the approved temperature reduction factor for the operating temperature. The calculated value is a preliminary derated pressure ceiling; the final assembly rating is still limited by the lowest-rated hose, braid, fitting, weld, gasket, or flange component.

Pressure-rating inputs that matter

  • Exact hose alloy, corrugation series, and nominal size.
  • Single-braid or double-braid reinforcement.
  • End-fitting material, pressure class, weld configuration, and gasket limits.
  • Operating temperature and approved material or manufacturer derating factor.
  • Required design pressure, pressure cycling, media, and applicable piping code.
