Metal Hose Selection

Metal Hose Assembly Selection Guide

Use this guide to select a braided stainless metal hose assembly for industrial piping, HVAC, pump connections, steam service, vibration isolation, movement absorption, and field-fit piping applications. Final suitability depends on pressure, temperature, media, movement, installation geometry, end connections, and applicable project specifications.

Step 1

Start with the End Connections

Match the field connection on each side of the assembly, then choose the corresponding hose family.

Five-Step Selection Process

Build the Assembly from Connections to Service Conditions

1. End ConnectionsCommon paths include Male NPT, Female NPT, Class 150 flanged, Class 300 flanged, grooved end, weld end, JIC, pump connector, reducing connector, and engineered U-Loop configurations.Browse connection families →
2. Hose ID & Overall LengthSelect hose ID around flow requirements, matching pipe size, allowable pressure drop, and installation constraints. Overall length must not force tension, compression, torsion, or a bend tighter than the minimum bend radius.Confirm size and OAL
3. Material & Braid CountReview stainless grade, fitting material, and braid count for chemical exposure, temperature, corrosion risk, pressure, and project requirements.Confirm construction
4. Pressure, Temperature, Media & MovementPressure and temperature cannot be reviewed independently. Elevated temperature, cyclic movement, braid construction, end fitting style, and media compatibility can affect service suitability.Confirm operating conditions

Use Online Ordering for Supported Configurations

Use engineering review when the application is uncertain.

For steam, chemical, vacuum, high-pressure, high-temperature, seismic, or movement-critical service, provide the application details before release. Add pressure, temperature, media, movement, target ship date, drawings, submittals, or documentation requirements to the RFQ or order notes as applicable.
